The book reviews a vast array of sources addressing the status of women according to our sages. Thus for instance, it discusses complex issues such as women and Torah studies, the disqualification of women as witnesses, women and public roles, exemption of women from positive commandments, and the daily blessing “Who has not made me a woman”, the sanctity of family, the prohibition of physical, verbal, and sexual violence against women, financial relations between spouses, and the figure of woman in Jewish mysticism and Hassidic writings. The book is original in its theoretical approach, and has been widely distributed and received to acclaim.
