Loans Laws

This book was co-authored with Prof. Barak Medina, who was later the Dean of the Law Faculty at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The book covers the two primary fields of loan laws: the maximum rate of interest lenders are entitled to charge, and the obligation of disclosure to which they are bound. The book discusses the handling of attempts to circumvent the instructions of the law that determine maximum interest rates while exploiting the legislator’s avoidance of limiting interest rates on non-linked loans. The book also discusses the special status of entities providing loans to the public. In the preface to the book, High Court Judge Dalia Dorner wrote: “The authors present clearly and thoroughly the multitude of legislation on the matter, as has been interpreted in a vast array of rulings, all on the background of the economic infrastructure at the basis of loan agreements. The authors also did not avoid presenting, in a reasonable fashion, their own opinions, interpretations, and even criticism where necessary. I have no doubt that this work will be of value and great importance to the public interested in the field of loan laws.”
